German girl found dead in Faridabad

NEW DELHI: An 18-year old German girl, who had come to India less than two months ago and was staying with friends at CR Park, was found dead in mysterious circumstances near railway tracks in a remote area 3km from Faridabad railway station.

Judith Aino Ehnas, who worked in an NGO in Kalkaji, went missing on October 2. Her mangled body was found by the Faridabad railway police that night and handed over to Delhi Police on Thursday night.

Judith Aino Ehnas, an 18-year-old German found dead near Faridabad railway station, was probably run over by the Kerala Sampark Kranti Express, police said. The train's driver told Haryana Police that he saw a woman of similar description standing alone next to the tracks somewhere around the body was found. Cops are trying to find out how she reached the remote place.

Her roommates, both Germans males, told police that on Wednesday they had asked her to accompany them to Rajghat. Judith refused, saying she was not well. When the two returned, Judith wasn't home. They presumed she had gone out on work. When she did not return till late at night, they lodged a missing complaint at CR Park police station around 12.30am, where a kidnapping case was also registered.

Police said an autopsy would be conducted after Judith's parents arrive. The examination is expected to reveal whether she was assaulted. Cops are probing all angles including that of suicide. No suicide note has been recovered nor have police been able to find a reason why Judith would want to end her life.

Judith came to India on August 15 and was staying in a ground floor apartment in CR Park. She worked in Pravah, an NGO that addresses issues of social justice among youth. The 18-year-old was to return to Germany in May 2014. Police have questioned her roommates and colleagues at Pravah. Inquest proceedings under section 174 of CrPC have been initiated.

Cops are analyzing her call records to see whom she spoke to last. She was reportedly being treated for an unknown ailment for the past few days. The body was found by Faridabad railway police on Wednesday night but was unidentified for a day even as cops sent an alert to all police stations in and around Delhi. They have contacted her parents and the German embassy.
