The police have ruled out a robbery attempt as entry to the house was friendly and the gold rings she was wearing and a laptop were found intact. The cops denied any sexual assault. The body has been sent for post-mortem and forensic experts have lifted fingerprints and other samples from the crime scene.
Sanyukta had married one Kishore Kumar, both from Andhra Pradesh, a year ago and the couple had been living in the government accommodation. Kishore is a head constable in the Army and is posted at Sena Bhavan.
The police said they received a call about the incident around 6.15pm from House No. 157 in M block of the area after which several teams were rushed to the spot. It was Kishore who discovered the murder after he returned from work around 6pm. "Nobody answered the door after which I went to the rear and found the door half shut. When I went in, I discovered her lying on the floor in a pool of blood," Kishore said.
He immediately raised an alarm and informed the police after which Sanyukta was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.
"We have registered a case of murder at the local police station and are probing the matter. Several people are being questioned and we have got some leads," said B S Jaiswal, DCP (south).
