Sheila Dikshit richer, but has no car even after 15 years on throne

For a chief minister who claims to have changed the city over 15 years, there is one thing that has not changed. Like her last nomination affidavit in 2008, the one she filed on Thursday also states that she does not own a car. A candidate from the New Delhi constituency, Dikshit has stated that her total assets—movable and immovable—are worth around Rs 2.8 crore, more than double the Rs 1.2 crore value she declared in 2008. In 2003, the figure was Rs 56 lakh.

Dikshit has declared only lakh. The declaration shows she is a cautious investor, keeping her money in Public Provident Fund, senior citizens' saving schemes and mutual funds. Her immovable assets add up to one immovable asset, a 1,570 sq feet flat in Nizamuddin East. In 2003, she declared its value as Rs 21 lakh, increasing it to Rs 63 lakh in 2008, and Rs 98.4 lakh this time. This includes a provident fund of around Rs 21 lakh.

Her valuables include 17.5kg silver worth Rs 8.6 lakh, 40.7 gms of gold worth Rs 1.2 lakh and 22.9 grams of gems worth Rs 1.56 lakh.
