Samarjit had married the victim without his family's consent and murdered her after his family began putting pressure on him to leave her. Samarjit's brother, Arvind (23), and uncle, Nagender (38), were also involved, said Gaurav Sharma, addl DCP (southeast).
Police said the men took the girl to a field in Sultanpur in UP and strangulated her. They then planted a mango sapling at the spot to avoid suspicion. The girl's body was found after her father filed a missing complaint.
