NEW DELHI: A 43-year-old NRI was arrested at Delhi airport on Monday for allegedly stalking a woman. The incident is reported to have occurred around 5.15am at the airport's Terminal 3. He has been identified as Puneet Ahluwalia, who is reportedly a native of Chandigarh. Ahluwalia is a businessman based in the United States who had come to India a year ago and was to return on Monday.

"The woman, who was going to Dubai, alleged that the accused stalked her when she was standing in a queue at the ticket counter after having missed her flight," police said. Police officials say he was found misbehaving with the woman in an inebriated state.

"Puneet Singh Ahluwalia has been arrested under Section 354(d) of IPC for misbehaving with the victim in an inebriated state," confirmed a senior Delhi police official. The woman (32), who works for a private firm in Dubai, was arguing with the airline staff after she reportedly missed her flight.

"Ahluwalia, who was also in the queue, tried to talk to the woman. The woman told him to stay away but he started misbehaving with her. It was then that the victim called out to the security personnel and we rushed to the spot," the senior official said. According to the official, CCTV footage of the incident will be examined. Police will also record statements of airline employees who were present at the spot.
