4-year jail for Dawood Ibrahim's shooter

NEW DELHI: Brajesh Singh, the dreaded gangster from Bihar who was once considered a prized sharp shooter of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, has been sentenced to around four years imprisonment in an attempt to murder case by a trial court. Considering Singh's good conduct, his economic status and the fact that Singh has already spent around four years in jail, the court has ordered his release. However, as Singh is facing trial in other cases, he may not be set free.

"Keeping in view the economic status of convict, pleading of guilt by convict, my inference is that convict deserves leniency. Therefore, convict Brajesh is hereby sentenced for the period already undergone by him in the present case," additional sessions judge Daya Prakash said.

The incident took place in July 2007 when police got a tip off that Singh had shifted to Janakpuri. During police's raid, Singh opened fire at the police.
