NEW DELHI: Directorate of Education has served showcause notice to half a dozen city schools for not submitting "undertakings" related to the "character and antecedents" of drivers and staff on school buses.
The department had earlier served a notice on April 1, 2014, to which the schools had not responded.
The DoE has asked them to explain why "proceedings of withdrawal of recognition" shouldn't be initiated against them "for non-compliance of instructions given by the directorate" within five days.
Schools had been asked to "show cause in writing (within seven days on receipt of notice) as to why the action...should not be taken against the school for non-submission of undertakings....to their respective zonal offices of the directorate with regard to verification, by the police authority, character and antecedent of drivers/staff deployed on buses hired as well as owned by the school".
The six schools that have been given the notice are Srijan School (Model Town), Sant Sujan Singh Ji International School (Swaroop Nagar), Guru Harkrishan School (Punjabi Bagh), St Mathews Public School (Paschim Vihar), Ganga International School (Hiran Kudna) and Kerala School (Vikaspuri).
