1/3rd of Delhi Police force to be women: Rajnath

NEW DELHI: Women will constitute one-third of the Delhi Police force, home minister Rajnath Singh told Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

"We have decided to increase the number of women personnel in Delhi Police to one-third. Our effort is also to increase women personnel in state police and central police forces to one-third," he said during Question Hour.

Police-population ratio in Delhi (as in January 2013) was 391.
