Top Delhi Police official brutally assaulted in full public view

NEW DELHI: A Delhi Police ACP posted with the anti-terror unit, special cell, was brutally assaulted by a group of men near Lodhi Crematorium in south Delhi on Thursday evening.

The cop has been identified as Amit Singh who was deputed in the newly formed southwest unit of the cell.

The incident was reported around 4.30pm when the ACP was going to the special cell office located in Lodhi Colony.

Witnesses said there was an accident and a quarrel had ensued between a biker and a car driver on the road. The ACP who was crossing the stretch stopped and intervened after which the groups went after him.

He was assaulted with rods, stones and kicked multiple times. The police and DCP special cell reached the spot and the accused have been rounded up.

The victim ACP has been taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre and an FIR is being registered at Nizamuddin police station.
