1 dead, 5 injured as under-construction building collapses in south Delhi

NEW DELHI: One man was killed and five others injured after the basement of an under construction building in south Delhi's Kidwai Nagar are collapsed on Thursday morning. Police said that the men were labourers working at the site under a contract from the National Building Construction Corporation.

The incident was reported around 10 am when the workers were digging into the basement of a site. Locals said that loose soil stored beside the site suddenly collapsed onto them.

The six men were immediately buried under the mud. Hearing their calls for help the other labourers rushed to the spot and managed to pull out two of them. The rest were rescued by the fire and police personnel.

The deceased person, a labourer has been identified as Subodh Mandal (22) a resident of Purnia in Bihar. Police said that the rest of the injured have been rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre
