Check hotels near IGI airport: NGT

NEW DELHI: National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Friday directed Delhi Pollution Control Committee, National Productivity Council, Maulana Azad Medical College, Jamia Milia Islamia University and other agencies to conduct joint inspections of hotels near the IGI airport to check whether they are following pollution control norms or not.

Taurus International, a hotel that was allegedly given a closure order by DPCC recently for not installing an effluent treatment plant (ETP), is especially under the scanner.

"The board shall also submit a comprehensive report. We have already noticed that one of the contentions raised on behalf of the appellant is that all other hotels are being permitted to operate without any ETP/STP, compliance to environmental laws and the appellant has been singled out in that regard," the order read.
