Narela cop shot at dies, killer held a grudge

NEW DELHI: The police constable shot three times outside his house in Narela succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning. The assailant was identified as Samunder, a criminal out on parole from a Haryana jail.

Samunder was a neighbour of Jitender Khatri and had known him for a decade. A few years ago, they had a fight and Samunder had bore a grudge ever since, Jitender's elder brother Sandeep told police.

On Friday night, Samunder sought a meeting with Sandeep. Wary of his intentions, Sandeep lied to him but Samunder kept a watch outside the house, waiting for someone to come out. When he saw Jitender, he fired at him and fled by the time Jitender's family members came out. Jitender was admitted to LNJP Hospital and was later shifted to Fortis where his condition worsened and he died.

Police are investigating the matter and have begun a search for Samunder.
