Part of National Highway 24 caves in, triggers traffic chaos on Delhi-Ghaziabad route

NEW DELHI: Commuters using National Highway 24 faced a harrowing time on Monday morning as a part of the road caved in due to mudslide.

The incident that happened opposite Antriksh Sanskriti housing society, which is under construction, led to huge traffic snarls on the highway for hours as it disrupted traffic between Delhi and Ghaziabad.

Earth forming the embankment around a culvert had given way leading to a kind of cave in.

Police have cordoned off a 1-km stretch from the UP Gate side just ahead of the Hindon Bridge.

Traffic coming from UP Gate side is being stopped at Chijjarsi cut from where its being diverted to Noida Sector 62, 63 on the right.

Dumpers have been pressed into service to fill the ground.

Light traffic is being allowed right now.
