53-year-old woman run over by truck

NEW DELHI: A 53-year-old woman was run over by a container truck on MB Road in southeast Delhi's Pul Prahladpur area on Thursday. The vehicle has been compounded but the errant driver is on the run.

The victim was identified as Vimla, a resident of Prem Nagar in Pul Prahladpur. She was an Anganwadi worker and the sole breadwinner of a family of six. The incident was reported around 3.35pm.

She was going to Mehrauli with her husband Devendra and her grandson Priyanshu (5) to meet a property dealer when their bike was hit by the container truck due to which it disbalanced and Vimla fell down, police said.

The speeding container truck, going to Mehrauli from Badarpur, failed to halt the vehicle on time and ran over her, police said.

They were rushed to AIIMS Trauma Center but Vimla was declared brought dead.
