Dixit, who heads the NGO Stop Acid Attacks, had screened the film on Thursday at Ravidas Camp in RK Puram, south Delhi—the same locality where Mukesh Singh, the rape convict interviewed in the film, stayed. Dixit, police said, is being questioned why he flouted the court ban and who helped him in it.
At Ravidas Camp, around 50 people had watched the documentary directed by British filmmaker Leslee Udwin. Some left midway as they couldn't understand English and the audio quality was also poor. The film was previously screened at Agra's Rup Dhanu village last week. The court order couldn't dissuade Dixit from going ahead with his plans. He had told TOI, "I've got to know about the police complaint but there is no summon from them. It's very important for the people, especially women, to see the film as it clearly shows the mentality of many among us. The documentary will be screened even if I go to jail."
To stop its further screening, the police brass has asked all SHOs to ensure that the court order is strictly enforced and action is taken wherever there is a violation.
