NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old woman was found dead on a plot in Sangam Vihar area of south Delhi on Saturday afternoon. Police said she was murdered with a blunt object.

The woman had got married ten years ago but had been deserted by her husband. She was living with her two brothers, Dharmendra and Vijay. The family said the woman was mentally challenged. Police ruled out rape. Amit, a neighbour, said that the woman used to carry lunch to her brothers, who are mechanics in Khanpur. On Friday afternoon, she had left home as usual with a packed lunch for her brothers.

Their brothers came home early as they had plans to go to a drinks party, but the woman stayed back in the shop to look after it. Amit, who was also with Dharmendra and Vijay, said, "When she didn't return till evening we thought she might have got late because of clients. We left assuming she'll be back by night. We came back around 9-10pm." A passerby discovered the body around 8am and informed police. The brothers suspect a neighbour who had once quarreled with the woman and even hit her.
