NEW DELHI/ NOIDA: Raamaansh Gupta says his guiding principle in life is "nothing's impossible". One can see why when his feats are measured against his age.

A painting by the precocious eight-year-old has become the first official entry in #DrawDisability, an international art campaign led by the United Nation secretary general's Global Education First Initiative (GEFI).

The official website of GEFI states that Raamaansh's painting - depicting a girl with prosthetic limbs winning a race - may be showcased either at the World Education Forum in Incheon, South Korea, at the 70th United Nations General Assembly, or at the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights Of Persons with Disabilities.

The objective of #DrawDisability campaign is to promote education for differently abled children. Raamaansh's submission presently features on the website's home page.

Asked how the idea behind the drawing germinated, Raamaansh said, "I've seen disabled people. They can do everything normal people can do. Disability is not a handicap. There is nothing called impossible. So, I painted this amputated girl (who he calls 'Blade Runner') with prosthetic support who wins a race, leaving everyone behind. She wins with such glory that even the sun is saluting her in the picture."

The boy from Delhi's Shahdara, and a Class 3 student of Lotus Valley School in Greater Noida, has won 30 art awards so far, his family says. Raamaansh is clear about his priorities. "I'd rather go to a sit-down art contest than to a movie. I am working hard on my art because I want to become one of the best artists in the world," he says.

His father Neeraj, a chemist by profession, says he discovered his son's talent when Raamaansh was in kindergarten. "One day, I returned home to see two paper masks painted by him, one for 'joy' and the other for 'sorrow'. The expression was so evocative, I was deeply touched and realized how gifted my son was. I put him in an art class and then started sending his paintings to art contests in and outside India. The judges usually like his sense of composition and colour," said Neeraj.

Now that his dream of his art winning international acclaim is coming true, is there anything else he aspires for? "I want to meet Aamir Khan," says Raamaansh.
