Maken said Congress would start protests if the Aam Aadmi Party government failed to start registration work in all 1,639 unauthorized colonies within two months. "We will demonstrate on the streets of Delhi," he said.
At a public meeting on Sunday, Kejriwal had said previous governments did nothing to regularize and develop such colonies.
Maken said Kejriwal had cited old figures finalized by the Congress government. He claimed the new government had reduced allocation for urban development, housing for the poor, and sanitation in JJ clusters substantially.
Maken cited a DDA notification issued on March 24, 2008 with the approval of the UPA government at the Centre to show that there were specified regulations for regularizing unauthorized colonies in Delhi.
"The notification said the government might commence development and augmentation of infrastructure in unauthorized colonies soon after the receipt of layout plans if it was satisfied that the colonies or part thereof fulfilled the general principles contained in the revised guidelines of 2007," he added.
