NEW DELHI: Over 3,000 students from 10 DAV schools formed a human-chain for two hours from Talkatora Stadium to Rajghat, via Mandir Marg, Central Park (CP) Minto Road and ITO to create awareness on water conservation on Saturday. This human chain marks the start of DAV's three-month project 'Boond' in which the students will study the issue of water conservation, right from reading water metres to its wastage in various localities in their neighbourhood.

"There were six venues where the human chain was formed, which includes Rajghat, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg near ITO, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Mandir Marg and Central Park in Connaught Place.

This activity is to sensitize our students as well as the common people on issues related to water conservation," said principal of DAV, Vikaspuri, Chitra Nakra.

The students distributed handmade leaflets and staged street plays. While the primary class students sang jingles and participated in a painting competition, the middle class students were involved in poster and pamphlet designing and poetry recitation.

"This is not a one-off exercise. Now, the students will undertake real time projects studying the water management issues in our own schools and in their neighbourhood. We will finally prepare a report on the studies conducted by the students," said principal of DAV, Pitampura, Anita Wadhera.

The project has been initiated by Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Upsabha and Rashtriya Arya Yuva Samaj (Delhi Chapter) in 32 DAV Public/ Model Schools.

The students spoke to passerby about water conservation, staged street plays and painted posters on the theme.
