NEW DELHI: A Nigerian national was arrested at the IGI Airport on Sunday for carrying fake US currency and travelling on an expired visa.

CISF PRO Hemendra Singh said that the accused, Emmanuel Tochukwu, reported to terminal 1D around 6.20am on Sunday. "The passenger, with passport number A-02528783, was scheduled to fly to Hyderabad on Indigo flight 6E-303.

During pre-embarkation security check, he placed his hand baggage to pass through the X-ray.

Sub-inspector Ramesh Ella who was on duty saw a suspicious image in the bag during the screening.

On physical checking of the bag, he found 14 bundles of fake currency material with strips mentioning $50,000 on each bundle, printing ink and an expired visa that was valid up to December 17, 2012," he said.
