NEW DELHI: Investigations into the maid's death has revealed that Rakhi and Meena did not get a single paisa for the one year that they worked at 175, South Avenue. Meena and her kin, as well as Rakhi's son, who had gone missing after a brief interaction with police, said as much.

Dhananjay had claimed to have given Rs 1.2 lakh to one Dev Kumar, who had placed Rakhi with them. Police, however, said the demands for money was another reason why the helps were beaten up. The minor was paid Rs 5,000 on two occasions in the past year. Dhananjay Singh may also be charged under the Bonded Labour Act, an officer said. Legal opinion has been sought for invoking charges for criminal conspiracy as well as POCSO.

Police say there is prima facie evidence of Dhananjay Singh, the mafia-turned-politician, trying to dispose of the maid's body on reaching Delhi. After an argument between the couple, the MP allegedly sent another maid, Meena, to a relative's place and informed the local police post about the death instead of dialling 100. He had attributed the death to a fall from the terrace.

This was reported by TOI on Wednesday. Police are probing whom the MP had asked for help in disposing of the body. Dhananjay has been booked for destruction of evidence.

The postmortem report has said that Rakhi (38) had died due to constant beating and multiple injuries. The full report, which will arrive on Monday, will reveal if the final blow was a cardiac arrest after Jagriti Singh jumped on Rakhi's chest on Sunday night. Rakhi had started sinking by then.

Delhi Police had sent a team to Kolkata to trace Rakhi's son, Shehjan, who had gone missing two days ago was traced late on Saturday, and other family members. Shehjan told police that he had returned to his hometown as he the news of his mother's death had given him a fright. He will be brought back and his mother's body will be handed over to him for conducting the last rites.

Shehjan has told police that after his father's death, a man had got his mother employed at a businessman's house. She had apparently come with a trafficker who introduced her to Dev Kumar, Dhananjay's contact.

Police are trying to ascertain age of the minor help, who is a victim and a complainant in the case.

On another front, police are also probing if the MP or his wife have a role in another help's death as well. Dhananjay has alleged in his divorce petition that Jagriti used to assault three of their servants, Santosh, Nishaad and Ram. Nishaad was found dead in mysterious circumstances at their home in 2009, police have got to know. Dhananjay has boasted before Delhi Police that UP cops did not even conduct an autopsy.

In a span of five years, Dhananjay has been involved in five mysterious deaths - that of his first wife, sister, servant Nishad, a political rival Bahadur Sonkar and Rakhi. This is aside from the numerous cases of murder he was accused of but acquitted due to lack of evidence.
