NEW DELHI: A 48-year-old customs official was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a hotel room in Paharganj on Friday morning.

The victim has been identified as AB Parwar, a resident of Goa. Police said that Parwar was a head constable of customs. On December 10, he checked in at Avtar hotel along with two colleagues. They were in the capital on an official assignment.

All three consumed alcohol the previous night before going to sleep. Parwar's colleagues found him unconscious in the morning and took him to a hospital where he was declared dead, said Alok Kumar, DCP Central. His body has been sent for postmortem.

Police said no there were no external marks on his body. Poisoning has also been ruled out. They are waiting for the autopsy report to confirm the nature of the death. "We found that he was suffering from diabetes," said an investigator.
