Woman’s headless body found inside travel bag

NEW DELHI: The headless body of a woman was found stuffed inside a travel bag beside a bus stop in west Delhi's Janakpuri on Wednesday night. Police said there were no clothes on the body when it was recovered.

About 11.30pm, locals informed police about a suspicious looking bag at the bus stop near A Block on Pankha Road. A team from Janakpuri police station rushed to the spot with a dog squad and a bomb disposal team. Police said they could not identify the woman since the head had been dumped elsewhere.

The body was found wrapped in a plastic sheet placed inside a blood-stained jute bag and bound with a rope. The jute bag had then been placed inside the travel bag. Sources said the woman, who seemed to be in her 20s, might have been murdered a few days ago.

A case of murder has been registered and several teams have been formed to investigate the case.
