NEW DELHI: The home ministry has asked Delhi Police to probe the leak of an Intelligence Bureau report outlining the negative impact of agitations and protests undertaken by foreign-funded NGOs, apparently under the influence of their western donors, on the country's economic growth.

A ministry official said Delhi Police will probe and submit its report to the home secretary fixing responsibility for the leak of the IB report in the media.

'Impact of NGOs on Development', a report prepared by the IB and sent to the Prime Minister's Office, the home minister, the national security adviser, finance minister and others, had blamed NGOs like Greenpeace for stalling development projects including coal-fired power plants, nuclear plants, oil drilling projects, uranium mines and hydel projects.

The claims made in the report were rejected by Greenpeace representatives.
